32 Ford Roadster Owner:
Tom Walker
Completed: January 06'
Tom's
Roadster when it arrived at our shop. The goal for this
rod is to become a vintage looking Hi-Boy with some modern muscle. One of the problem areas
of this car was the alignment of the body components. A
combination of a steel Brookville body, modified Rootlieb hood, and
a stock grill shell would make up this 32's exterior.
The cowl and
hood were trimmed and modified extensively to allow a consistant gap. After the hood-side templates were completed
they were crated and sent to Rootlieb.
The door hinge arms needed to be lengthened to make the doors meet
the cowl sides.
After the body was aligned the sensitive steel
skin was handed a coat of black epoxy primer.
Deck-lid, Doors, Dash and multiple other parts after priming.
The
chassis had previously been painted in the past but we saw some
things that we thought we could improve, so we kinda overhauled it. Donnie is in the
background working on the dash panel.
The
body on the custom rack after the initial coats of color.
The
body is receiving paint and being sanded to a mirror finish.
Hours of sanding and polishing reveals a mirror finish
you can check your hair in.
This black and white photo really shows off the slick finish.
The
painted parts are assembled providing an early glimpse of this
street rod's character.
Power
plant and gear grinder in place, anxiously waiting for the rest of
the project to be completed.
The
quick-change differential and many other polished components will be
viewable by low lying rodents in the roadway as well as any up close
onlookers.
Lookin'
sleek with the hood and grill in place.
The vintage look is
reproduced by the tires and wheels.
Aerial
view inside the shop shows the roadster and a pickup that required
maintenance. Our Dad Jack has always set a good example of
cleanliness as you can see. It can get crowded but we like to
keep it clean. An additional building is in the works.
The
clean lines and mirror finish of Tom's roadster make this picture
look fake. Click on the picture to see the larger view.
The
paint finish looks pretty darn good even if we do say so ourselves.
We'll another rod goes out to meet the world. It's off to upholstery for Tom's classic 32. Thanks Tom! ... We'll post more photos when the car is complete!
